All about the NewportPembs web site

Hello! We are Noelle and Jon.

We started this web site way back in around 2000 when we lived and worked in London as a form of escape and to re-kindle memories of what we missed.

Built from a passion about the surroundings here in Pembrokeshire - it's all about what we love about Newport and the landscape it sits within.

As a child Carningli mountain was my back garden and the coast, estuary and beaches my front lawn - alongside the well trodden splenders such as Parrog, Big Beach and the coast path, I could show Noelle long forgotten paths, secret coves and features lost in time.

My Grandfather walked me throughout the landscape and showed me all the places nobody seemed to frequent, and as a young boy with my friends we would explore and find games to play on every rock, in every cave, and practically in every tree too.

This was the inspiration behind this web site - an online guide to the many wonders to be found locally.

Noelle on Dinas Mountain

I first came to Pembrokeshire many years ago with my parents from Manchester. I had fallen asleep during the long journey and when I woke I could see the outline of Dinas Head appearing to hover above the glimmering sea, I knew instantly that we had arrived somewhere magical.

Years later I pinch myself that we now live in that place. I can think of no nicer place to bring up our two boys and call home. 'This is the life' I say as we sit on a rock looking out to sea, it's become our family motto!

Together we are

Coast & Wild

Not just a team in the sense of being a family, we are working together on our latest project - Coast & Wild

Foraging seaweeds to press and produce as artworks. Originally we collected seaweed as shape and colour references for designs and paintings, but soon realised that the pressed seaweeds were pieces of art in themselves..

You can find out more about that on our Coast & Wild website...
